	Leominster Festival 1988 is the fifth festival, once again running two years after the previous festival in 1986. Since the last festival, the Leisure Centre just off the town centre has been completed and the editorial mentions the Tourist Information Office and Community Association being now firmly part of the town landscape. The Festival welcomes the W.E.A. and Local History Societies eleventh annual day school which in the year of the opening of Leominster Bypass is entitled From Byway to Bypass.

The day will consist of lectures in the morning and outings in the afternoon.

The morning lectures are, Local Railways by Rev. D. Tipper and The Stourport, Leominster, Kington Canal by Mr. J. G. Calderbank.

The whole day is open only to members of the Local History Societies, but non-members are welcome to the lectures in the morning.

The Festival has had folk music before but in a modest way—not this time. This evening we feature a duo from Scotland with an established national reputation and a trio from Malvern who are rapidly establishing theirs. Between them they feature music and song with its roots in traditional Scottish and Irish music to Bach, the Beatles and Dire Straits. Something for everyone.

'''Cilla Fisher''' is the youngest member of the well known Fisher Family of Scottish folksingers. Together with her brother and sister they have greatly influenced the trend of Scottish traditional and contemporary folk music in recent years. Cilia’s marriage to '''Artie Tresize''' (family roots in Cornwall) has proved to be one of those highly fortuitous events that have a way of happening in the folk music world; for his voice and tasteful accompaniments on guitar, lap organ and Scottish small pipes provide an ideal setting for the traditional material they generally favour.

Cilla and Artie, always in great demand, play to packed houses the entire length and breadth of the British Isles and also abroad. Overseas tours have taken them to Australia, Canada, Holland, Ireland, Bermuda, Germany as well as guesting at the first ever Hong Kong Folk Festival. It was a great accolade for them to represent the U.K. as B.B.C. artists at the European Broadcasting Festival in Finland a few years ago.

Sarabande, NONNY and CHRIS (Chris is the one with the beard) are joined for tonight’s performance by ALAN TIPPLE.

Sarabande are based at Malvern. Chris is a talented musician and multi-instrumentalist. His roots lie with folk music and he has been a welcome performer on the Cheshire and Cotswold scenes for many years. Nonny is a classically trained musician and her roots lie with the blues and rock music of the early 70’s. She is a successful songwriter and has performed on local radio.
