The Singing Kettle was originally a recording of all the songs that Cilla Fisher and Artie Tresize sang to their daughter—folk songs, rhymes and street songs that they remember from their upbringings in Glasgow and Fife.
The huge success of the album meant that they were persuaded to take the show on the road from their home base of Kingskettle in Fife and invitations came to perform a series for B.B.C. TV. and to write and present for Educational Television.
Edinburgh musician, Gary Coupland, pianist, accordionist and trombone player, was invited to join the Singing Kettle team—and is now an integral part of their dynamic stage performance.
The Singing Kettle has opened its lid to thousands of youngsters in Germany, U.S.A., Canada, Ireland, Australia and Hong Kong. Even the hallowed halls of the Purcell Room in London and the Swan Theatre at Stratford have rung to the music of Scotland’s unique children’s entertainment.
