Following the concert by Dharambir Sinqh, Friday evening continues with the Ceilidh of the Year at the Royal Oak Hotel featuring Pyewackett.

Pyewackett plays pop music from the last five centuries, from medieval dance tunes to Joan Armatrading plus a good measure of original material. It’s an eclectic mixture leading to a unique sound. Folk song and dance, music theatre, contemporary music and pop all play a part in the band’s style, brought together in Pyewackett’s unique mix of synthetic and electronic sound with traditional instruments.

Tonight, Pyewackett bring their own caller to lead us into an energetic evening of dancing and song. The line up of the band is:

  • Ian Blake — clarinets, sax, recorders, guitar, bass, voice
  • Mark Emerson — electric violin, accordion, voice
  • Rosie Cross — voice, hammer dulcimer, bassoon
  • Bill Martin — synthesisers, piano, voice
  • Micky Barker — drums
