Festivals 1988

Hagley Theatre Group performed in Leominster Festival 1988. The group was formed in 1946 when Jo Adams was asked to produce a play for the Hagley Girls' Training Corps. Their first play, with a female only cast, was 'Ladies in Waiting'. Further plays were performed with a mixed cast and the group was named as Let's Do A Play Club. In 1985, the Club changed its name to the Hagley Theatre Group.[1]

Unfortunately, after 75 years, Hagley Theatre Group performed its final show, The Adams Family, at Hagley Community Centre.[2]

Programme Biography

Hagley Theatre Group was started in 1946; since then, although only a small society, it has presented a wide cross section of drama including Ayckbourne, Miller, Shaw, Sheridan and Coward, to cater for the varied audiences it attracts. Recently the Society has won a cup and certificates for productions in several Drama Festivals. Next year sees their 150th production.
