Leominster Festival 1982
Year | 1982 |

Dates | 6th - 19th June 1982 |
6th - 19th June 1982
In the beginning, Leominster Festival was only a biannual event, and so this is the second Festival after the very successful inaugral event in 1980.
Programme Introduction
This, the second Leominster Festival, is to take place almost entirely withIn the confines of the town. The visitor to the town will find most venues within easy walking distance of the town centre and free car parks. The impressive Priory Church is approached through Church Street with its fine display of Georgian houses. Many of the towns buildings are well-preserved and excellent examples of medieval and Tudor timber frame houses, the most famous of which was built by John Abel, the King’s Carpenter, in 1633, Now known as Grange Court, it was moved to its present position in the last century and overlooks the peaceful central park area where family entertainment will take place on both Saturdays of the Festival.
Set, as it is, in beautiful Herefordshire countryside close to the Wye Valley and Black Mountains, the town is worthy of a visit at any time.
During Festival Fortnight it should not be missed. After the success of the first Festival, the Leominster Festival Society is proud to bring to the town another varied programme of artists, all renowned in their own fields. We are confident that we shall be well supported by the townspeople and the visitor will find much to enjoy also.
The design on the cover is the Leominster Knot; a unique and ancient symbol of the Towns Trades Guilds signifying their interdependence and fellowship
