The Aldwyn Consort of Voices appeared at Leominster Festival 1986 as part of the event Song and Dance at the Court of Elizabeth I. In 2025, they are still going strong and performing regularly at the Autumn in Malvern Festival.[1]

Programme Biography

The Aldwyn Consort of Voices was formed in Malvern by Peter Smith. He has been the group’s administrator since its foundation in 1969. Grayston Burgess, the choral director became conductor of the Consort in 1983 in succession to Andrew Millington continuing the Aidwyn’s tradition for high standards and adventurous programmes.

The Consort has given first performances of works by Edmund Rubbra, Douglas Young, Rory Boyle and Peter Tranchell.

The Aldwyn Consort has broadcast over twenty programmes for the BBC and has appeared at major festivals including the Three Choirs Festival and for the past nine years the Malvern Festival.
