The Minster School was the main secondary school for the Leominster area for many years. Although the school was split into many buildings, some very old and cold, it had a large traditional raised stage in the main hall. The stage was equipped with curtains, a lighting rig (with permanent control deck) and had ample backstage room and wings on either side. The hall could seat perhaps 150 people with good access and parking. This all contributed to making The Minster School an excellent venue for performances, speakers and musical acts alike.

The Minster School was used as a regular venue for Leominster Festival from the first year in 1980 through to 2008, after which the school was dismantled and replaced with the new Earl Mortimer college.

Although the venue was starting to look a little tired towards the end, it remained an excellent venue for hosting larger performances with a good audience capacity. Even now, there is still no alternative providing a similar scale of venue, staging and facilities.
